Remembrance Assemblies

Always a poignant occasion, the annual Remembrance Assembly for Armistice is a time of reflection and showing respect for those who lost their lives for us. The entirety of Year 6 were involved and they delivered the assembly with great maturity, clarity and poise throughout. As always, you could not hear a pin drop during the readings that Year 6 delivered, as they were done with such professionalism. It was a particular pleasure to hear the poetry composed by Year 6 themselves. Their eloquence and creativity during these poems was nothing short of magnificent. The ‘Laying of the Wreaths’ was another powerful element of the assembly, where representatives from each of the classes lay down a beautifully crafted wreath in a moment of reflection. This was followed by prayer and the traditional trumpet playing where we heard ‘The Last Post’ and ‘Reveille’, after the chimes of Big Ben rung.
Year 3 were excited to share their knowledge of Remembrance Day with the younger students in Infant House by leading the assembly on Monday. They did a fantastic job explaining its significance, sharing with Infant House why we wear poppies in November and why we have parades. To make the assembly even more special, Year 3 performed some heartfelt poems that captured the spirit of remembrance. We are incredibly proud of their efforts in honouring this important day.
